PDRRMO Basilan Encourages Residents to Join DRRM Volunteer Program
PDRRMO Basilan encourages residents to join its DRRM Volunteer Program aimed at strengthening community-based disaster preparedness, emergency response operations, and public safety initiatives throughout the province.
Isabela City, Basilan — The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Basilan has officially launched its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Volunteer Program to encourage community participation in disaster preparedness, emergency response, and public safety initiatives across the province.
The program aims to strengthen community resilience by mobilizing trained volunteers who can assist during emergencies, rescue operations, evacuation procedures, relief distribution, and disaster awareness campaigns.
As part of the initiative, interested residents are encouraged to complete the DRRM Volunteer Form, which serves as the official registration system for individuals willing to support disaster response and community safety activities organized by the PDRRMO.
According to PDRRMO officials, volunteers play a vital role in ensuring faster and more effective emergency response operations, especially in vulnerable and high-risk communities.
“Community participation is one of the most important foundations of disaster preparedness. Through this program, we hope to empower more residents to become active partners in protecting lives and communities,” a PDRRMO representative stated.
Registered volunteers may undergo various trainings including basic first aid, emergency response procedures, disaster preparedness orientation, search and rescue operations, and evacuation management to improve their capabilities during emergency situations.
The office also emphasized that the volunteer program promotes bayanihan, cooperation, and public awareness while helping strengthen local disaster response networks throughout Basilan.
Residents from different municipalities are encouraged to participate in the program and contribute to building safer, more resilient, and disaster-ready communities across the province.
For more information regarding the DRRM Volunteer Program and registration procedures, the public may coordinate directly with the Basilan PDRRMO Office or through official communication channels.
