Isabela City, Basilan — The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) immediately responded to assist a 42-year-old male patient from Alhidaya Drive, Timpul, Isabela City following a medical referral from Infante Hospital for further evaluation and advanced medical management.

According to the initial medical report, the patient was experiencing severe anxiety and difficulty breathing. Initial assessment indicated that the patient was suffering from Coronary Artery Disease with a possible case of Acute Coronary Syndrome, requiring urgent medical attention and transfer to a higher-level healthcare facility.

Upon assessment by the PDRRMO EMS team, the patient was conscious and recorded a Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score of 15/15. Vital signs taken during the response showed a blood pressure of 140/90 mmHg, pulse rate of 92 beats per minute, respiratory rate of 28 cycles per minute, oxygen saturation of 97% with oxygen support via non-rebreather mask at 8–10 liters per minute, and body temperature of 36.8°C.

Medical responders immediately continued the patient’s initial management which included intravenous fluids, diuretics, cardiac medications, anticoagulants, anxiolytics, and other supportive medications to stabilize the patient’s condition prior to transport.

The EMS team conducted immediate medical transport to ensure continuous monitoring and proper medical care while facilitating the patient’s transfer for specialized cardiac evaluation and higher-level treatment.
